Wouldn't it be nice to travel back in time?

For a woodworker the dream might be a little different from everyone else.  Their dream might consist of owning or working with a species of wood that has been changed over the course of time due to disease or man.

That dream is now available! Only from SR Wood and your authorized CraftWood dealer.

Blight-free American Chestnut (Castanea dentata)

Not since the 1900's has a tree such as this been available.  It was a huge, majestic tree, with a very straight stem.  It grew fast, and would regenerate itself by root sprouts vigorously. The wood was nearly ideal. The only problem with Chestnut is that it is highly susceptible to a disease.

Blight-free Chestnut

The Chestnut blight is believed to have started in the U.S. when Japanese Chestnut trees were first imported in 1876. In 1904 the fungus was already wide spread in the north-eastern U.S. and by 1926 the fungus was reported throughout the native range of American chestnut, and a major forest tree had been reduced to a multiple-stemmed shrub. Between the blight and the chestnut timber borer clear Chestnut existed only in history pages and the dreams of woodworkers until now.

Available till it's gone, Blight-free Old Growth Chestnut veneer in raw veneer, faces, or backed sheets.
